Breaking down the Nash injury.
Kevin Nash was only in the ring for the main event for 12.5 seconds before he hit the canvas to stay on Monday night. There has been a great deal of opinion on where exactly the injury occurred in the match. While I'm not a doctor, nor have ever practiced medicine, I noticed a few interesting things about Nash during the match, which I'll share here. Some of the picture quality is poor because to illustrate the point, the picture had to be zoomed in. If you wish to see the full picture, click on the shot you want. Also, note that the time listed starts when Nash enters the ring.
Nash had just been tagged into the ring, and the first thing he did touch his left quad. He might have felt something strange after putting his weight on it to climb into the ring.
This is a shot of Booker T ducking Nash's close-line. Again, notice that when Nash spins around, he uses his left leg to pivot, putting all his weight along with the spinning motion on one leg.
Nash has just connected the big-boot on the face of Booker T, but if you look closely, Booker's leg makes contact with Nash's left quad, causing the 7-footers leg to buckle.
Nash has finished the boot, and tried to run into Booker's corner to attack Bubba Dudley. "Big Sexy" only made about two steps before he crumpled to the canvas, unable to but any significant weight on his left leg.
Nash has been on the ground for two seconds screaming beacuse of his injury. He stayed in the corner until he has helped to the back at the conclusion of RAW.
With Nash on the canvas for nine seconds, Earl Hebner checks on him, and then lifts his arms, and makes a cross with them, signaling that Nash is seriously hurt. Again, I'm not a doctor, but looking at video evidence, it looks to me that from the moment Nash entered the ring, there was something going on with his left leg. His injury comes at a bad time for the WWE, as it puts another hole in the nWo, much the same way the departure of Scott Hall did a couple of months ago. It should be interesting to see what direction they go in now. Another thing to note is that Nash turned 43 today, and that knowledge, coupled with the severity of his injury, makes a comeback attempt from Big Sexy extremely unlikely. Nash isn't getting younger, and in six months time won't have fought a meaningful match in well over two years. Let's hope that Nash can make a full recovery, as it would be a shame if his last match in wrestling saw him standing for only 12.5 seconds.
