Pillman 2000: A Who's Who in Pro Wrestling?.

                             By Ross Forman

CINCINNATI, Ohio - A Who's Who in Pro Wrestling, headlined by WCW World Heavyweight Champion Kevin Nash, came here to the Schmidt Fieldhouse at Xavier University Thursday night to honor one of their fallen heroes.

More than 50 wrestlers from almost every known federation, including WCW, the WWF and ECW, participated in the 3rd-annual Brian Pillman Show, "Pillman 2000." More than 2,000 fans attended the five-hour-plus extravaganza, which included incredible matches (Chris Benoit vs. Lord Steven Regal, and the Harris Boys vs. Kidman and Disco Inferno, among others), countless speeches (by Nash, Diamond Dallas Page and others) and autograph sessions.

More than $36,000 was raised for the Pillman Foundation, a number that surely will rise when exact figures are determined... and when Nash donates another $20,000.

"It seems like every year the show gets bigger and better," said Melanie Pillman, Brian's former wife. "I know he'd be real excited, real happy about it.

"[The show] is great for the kids; it gives them a chance to celebrate their dad's life. It gives them a chance to meet people who worked with their father, remember their father. It also gives me a chance to see people who I haven't seen in a while."

WCW's contingent included Vampiro, Torrie Wilson, Shane Douglas, Jamie from the Jung Dragons, Charles Robinson, David Penzer and others. Former Revolution members Chris Benoit, Perry Saturn, Dean Malenko and Eddy Guerrero attended, as did wrestling superhero Rickey "The Dragon" Steamboat.

Also in attendence was former WCW referee Mark Curtis' widow, Pam.

"I'm sure it would mean a lot to Brian to know that his fans and his former [wrestling] buddies are supporting his family because the money raised allows ... the kids to go to their Christian school, to keep the house that they were all born in," Melanie said. "So, basically, his friends and fellow wrestlers are supporting his family... and that's a really wonderful thing."

Sean Casey of the Cincinnati Reds, a National League All-Star in 1999, served as the guest referee for the Harris Boys-Kidman/Disco tag match. And, after the in-ring melee, Casey actually cold-cocked Charles Robinson.

"Boy, I had a great time," Casey said. "That was so much fun. "I had as much fun there as I do getting in the [batter's] box."

Fellow Reds Danny Graves and Dimitri Young also attended the annual affair.
